    How to photograph documents properly

A good PDF starts with a good photo. A few habits make a big difference:

    • Contrast. Put white paper on a dark table so the edges are clear.
    • Angle. Hold the phone flat, straight above the page. Tilted photos make the page look like a trapezium.
    • Light. Daylight near a window is best. Turn off the flash; it causes a bright spot in the middle.
    • Shadow. Your own hand and phone cast a shadow. Step slightly to the side of the light.
    • Crop. Remove the table around the page with Crop Image before you build the PDF.

    iPhone photos

iPhones save photos as HEIC. You can add HEIC photos here directly; they are converted for you. If you also need them as JPG files, use Image Converter.

Need it under a size limit?

Choose Smaller file under Quality first. If the PDF is still too big for your form, run it through Compress PDF and type the exact limit, such as 200KB.

To add these pages to an existing PDF, make the PDF here and then join the two with Merge PDF.

    Questions people ask

Does it work with iPhone photos?

Yes. HEIC photos from iPhone are converted automatically.

    Is there a watermark?

No. The PDF contains only your photos.

Can I add more photos to an existing PDF?

Make a PDF of the new photos here, then join both files with Merge PDF.

Why is my photo rotated in the PDF?

Your photos are drawn the way your phone shows them. If one is still wrong, fix it afterwards with Rotate & Organize PDF.

Is there a limit on photos?

No fixed limit. Very many large photos can be slow on older phones.
