Why Kruti Dev text looks like gibberish

Kruti Dev is an old style of Hindi font that draws Hindi shapes on top of English keys. The file really contains English letters, so “भारत” is stored as “Hkkjr”. It only looks right on a computer that has the Kruti Dev font and has it selected. Paste it into WhatsApp, an email or a website and the English letters show.

Unicode is the modern standard: the letters themselves are Hindi, so the text looks right on every phone, computer and website, and Google can search it.
